The role of the NOBCChE Nomination and Elections Committee (NEC) is to identify and select candidates who can provide quality leadership to NOBCChE. The composition of this committee is restricted to at  most three (3) members of the Executive Board. The Chairman of this committee shall be appointed by the Chairman of the Executive Board.

 


 

NEC Roles and Responsibilities

  • Receive nomination for persons who may be considered for positions on the Executive Board [Administrative Officers (5), Regional Chairs (5), and Executive Committee (8)].
  • Select and prepare a slate of nominees with a summary of their qualifications for review and approval by the Executive Board.
  • Receive the checklist for a valid nomination from nominees.
  • Oversee and conduct all National Elections (including annual elections, special elections, and proposed changes to the Constitution and By-Laws).
  • Oversee the selection process for Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Executive Board. The selection is restricted to the eight (8) member Executive Committee.

NEC Important Election Dates

  • Nominations must be received by: June 15, 2020
  • Election ballots will be distributed on: July 1, 2020

How to Vote

Ballots for open positions to the Executive Board will be distributed electronically on July 1 of the current election year to all NOBCChE members eligible to vote. Information on how to vote online or by mail, and how to request a new or replacement ballot, will be posted on the NOBCChE elections site at that time.

Voter Eligibility

To be eligible to vote in National Elections, you must have been a regular member in good financial standing by March 31, 2020 at 11:59 pm PST

Candidate Eligibility

To be an eligible candidate, your nomination must be officially accepted by the elections committee and you must have been a regular member in good financial standing by December 31, 2019 11:59 PST. Qualified candidates will be asked to submit a candidate packet to the NEC. Nominations, biographical information, and statements must be uploaded electronically via email by TBD . Candidate information received after this date will not be accepted.

Nominations for Open Positions

The role of the NOBCChE Nomination and Elections Committee (NEC) is to identify and verify the eligibility of candidates who can provide quality leadership to NOBCChE. If you would like to suggest yourself or another member for consideration, please submit your suggestion to the committee by emailing [email protected]  All potential candidates must adhere to the eligibility requirements and are subjected to review by the committee. 

Nominations are now being solicited for the 2020 national elections for three At-Large members of the Executive Board.  In addition, elections for Midwest Regional Chair will take place at the same time.  Upon election, all the elected officers become members of the Executive Board. The three-year terms of At-Large Executive Board members Arthur Martin, Iris Wagstaff, and Michael Gyamerah and the two-year term of Bridgette Shannon (Midwest Regional Chair) expire on September 30. Nominations can be submitted to [email protected] and require a recent curriculum vitae of the nominee.

The following is a checklist for a valid candidacy:

A person is eligible to run for a National Office only if he or she is a Regular Member in good financial standing.  National dues for candidates must be paid and received by the National Treasurer by 11:59 P.M. PST, December 31, 2019. 

Each candidate is required to submit :  A) biographical sketch that describes his or her qualifications, B) a brief statement outlining his or her views on NOBCChE-related issues, and  C) a recent, color, head-and-shoulder photograph in jpeg format.  This information will be requested after a nomination is received. A candidate’s biographical sketch and statement must not exceed 350 words in total and should be in an MS Word file (no pdf files, please, thank you) and a statement of consent agreeing to accept the position if elected.

Nominations, biographical information, and statements must be received no later than June 15, 2020.
