This session is aimed to equip candidates seeking industry positions or those who have accepted industry positions with information to be successful in their first year of their new career. The panel will discuss things they learned within their early years of working in industry, how their expectations matched up to the reality of the job, and things they wish they knew to help make the transition to industry employee smoother.

This session is aimed to host a healthy discussion about transition within industry careers. Many people avoid discussions about change and transition from departments, positions, or companies however it is a natural part of any industry career. We’ll discuss how to address a change, how to navigate the change once it’s made, or even how to change backgrounds to industry from the professoriate.
