San Francisco State University, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in analytical or inorganic chemistry beginning August 2016.

The department seeks individuals with a background in analytical or inorganic chemistry and a research specialization in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, inorganic chemistry or materials chemistry.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers undergraduate degrees in Chemistry (BA and BS) and Biochemistry, along with master’s degees. Faculty are committed to engaging students in the teaching and research environment.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have Ph. D. in analytical or inorganic chemistry or closely related field. Post-doctoral or equivalent research experience required.

Candidates should have a strong research background in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, inorganic chemistry or materials chemistry.

Candidates must have a strong commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in their discipline area well as in their area of specialization.

Candidates must have an active record of scholarship in their research area, and have the potential to carry out an active, externally-funded research program involving both undergraduate and master’s students.

Candidates are preferred who can demonstrate experience in or a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.

Responsibilities: The position requires undergraduate and graduate teaching in chemistry and biochemistry, mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students, developing an active, ongoing research program, and active participation in committee and service assignments.
