NOBCChE Graduate Rising Star Awards     

PURPOSE 

The NOBCChE Graduate Rising Star Award is meant to recognize the importance of student servant leaders who model the mission of NOBCChE through excellence in education, research, and service. The Rising Star Award will honor the accomplishments of one graduate student per region (Northeast, Midwest, West, Southeast, Southwest) who has made significant contributions to their regions. 

AWARD 

The award consists of an award certificate signed by the NOBCChE President and the regional chair, an honorarium, and 1-year of paid NOBCChE membership. Awardees will be recognized at the annual NOBCChE Awards Gala and on the Awards website.

NOMINATION 

All nomination materials should be submitted in PDF format to [email protected]. The subject line of the email should include the title of the award followed by the nominee’s name. Self-nomination is encouraged. The nomination packet should include the following: 

  • 1 Letter of nomination or personal statement (1000 words or less) 
  • 1 Letter of support from a professor or chapter advisor (500 words or less each)
  • CV
  • Unofficial Transcript 

 The letter of nomination and additional letters of support should be sure to address the following: 

  • How the nominee meets the specific eligibility requirements of the award.
  • 2-3 specific examples that best highlight the nominee’s work in education, research, and service. Include the problem or situation the nominee’s work addresses, the significance and impact of this work in the chemistry or chemical engineering field and/or the impact and benefits (or potential benefit) of the work on our community/society. 

ELIGIBILITY 

To be considered for the Rising Star Award, the nominee must: 

  • Be a financially active undergraduate student member of NOBCChE.
  • Be currently enrolled in a masters or doctorate program in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field, at a degree granting institution in the United States
  • Demonstrate impact through significant contributions to science or the community in their regions.

The award will be granted regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, presence of disabilities, and educational background.
