Technical Writer/Editor
The Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) at the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking expressions of interest for a
Technical Writer/Editor.

About Us

The Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST), is a national nanotechnology user facility and
one of the seven laboratories of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The CNST
supports the U.S. nanotechnology enterprise from discovery to production by providing industry,
academia, NIST, and other government agencies with access to world-class nanoscale measurement and

Anticipated Employment Opportunity
The CNST staff and user community participate in an exceptionally broad range of cutting-edge science
and technology research. We seek a skilled technical writer and editor to help communicate the results
of our research to a broad audience through a variety of media.

Expected Skills Required

The successful applicant would possess a physical science degree and demonstrate experience in
technical writing. This person will work collaboratively with CNST’s science and engineering staff, its
graphic artist, and its management to communicate the results of its research projects. Core
responsibilities include: writing and communications; editing scientific documents, manuscripts, and
web content; organizing some programs and reports; and crafting outreach events and media. The
person will report to, and work closely with, CNST’s Deputy Director. Salary will be commensurate with
the highest degree earned and experience. U.S. citizenship is required.
